I have to say, one thing I have learned is that God is faithful. My husband accepted a new position in his place of work. This was a good choice as the pay was better and benefits were much better....but didn't they kick in for about six weeks. Even though it was a good choice and where we felt God was leading it meant sacrificing family time...he got placed on nights.
We didn't have much in our bank account...actually only $20. All our bills were paid and we had food in our cupboards so I wasn't concerned....payday was coming. Then my daughter came to me and said "my ear has been hurting for a couple days." I first thought was, we are going to have to pay full price for the medication (because the benefits had not kicked in yet)....and I don't have enough gas in my car to take her to the doctor, 40 minutes away. I thought, "ok, I will put the $20 in our account in the car to get to the doctor and then use part of our mortgage payment to pay for the medication and pray that somehow, the money would be there when the payment came out." So, that is exactly what I did. I am glad I took her, as the doctor said her ear was full of infection and it was no wonder she couldn't hear out of it.
I was able to transfer enough money from another account to cover the mortgage, but now my car was on empty again from driving to the doctors. I still wasn't anxious, I was still trusting God. I had enough gas to get to work one more day, but after that, I wasn't sure what I was going to do.
I went about my day and evening, not thinking about the lack of money or gas, just trusting somehow everything would work out....and it did. My sister knocked on the door and said "Here. This is for Chris" (my husband). My brother in law and my husband work at the same place, only on different shifts. I said "What is it?" She said "Chris won the hockey pool at work. There's $30 in there." I was over joyed. Some people may think "$30....that's not much." But for me, it meant I would have gas in my car." God is good and is faithful.
"For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation." Psalm 100:5
